Housing Programs

       

The City of Auburn currently offers two affordable housing programs in conjunction with the 2014 HOME Program offered by the State Department of Housing and Community Development.  Both programs are available to qualifying, low-income applicants.  Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.   Please contact Carol Stuart at cstuart@auburn.ca.gov  or by phone at 530-823-4211 ext. 122 for additional information.

           First Time Home Buyer Down Payment Assistance Program

The First Time Home Buyer (FTHB) Down Payment Assistance Program is designed to promote home ownership for low income, first time homebuyers.  Down payment assistance is provided in the form of a zero-interest, deferred loan (second mortgage).  Additional information about the program is available with the FTHB Brochure (also available in Spanish here). Please complete the FTHB Program Interest form if you are interested in the program and believe that you may qualify.

Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program

The Owner Occupied Rehabilitation (OOR) Program is designed to help rehabilitate your home, with primary emphasis on the repair of health and safety problems.  Typical repairs include electrical, plumbing, roofing, structural defects and weatherization.  Down payment assistance is provided in the form of a zero-interest, deferred loan (second mortgage).  Additional information about the program is available with the OOR Brochure (also available in Spanish here). Fair Housing and Placer County Housing Information

Information regarding fair housing and tenant rights, as well as housing opportunities and programs in the unincorporated areas of Placer County (e.g. rehabilitation grants, rehabilitation loans, first-time homebuyer programs, and Section 8 programs), can be found on the Placer County website (Human Services webpage) via this link.
