Business License

If you own or operate a business in Auburn, you must obtain a business license by filing an application and paying the appropriate fees. Some businesses may require multiple licenses. Download a business license application for general business, contractor/subcontractors, home occupation permit application.

Finance Division staff will determine the type of license required and collect the necessary fees. Residents who operate businesses from their homes are required to apply for a home occupation permit and pay a one time fee of $11.00 in addition to the business license tax.

Dog License

You must purchase a license for any dog over four months of age. Licenses are valid for up to two years, or until the rabies vaccination expires. To obtain or renew a license, you need to present:

  • Proof of current rabies vaccination
  • Proof of neuter/spay (for reduced fee)
  • Payment of license fee

Mail your proof of vaccination and neutering, with your payment, to:

License Fee Exemptions

With verification of current rabies vaccination, owners of the following dogs are exempt from dog license fees:

  • Seeing eye dogs owned by a blind or partially blind person
  • Any dog certified as a canine companion for independent living and owned by a disabled person
  • Dogs used by law enforcement personnel
  • Any dog owned by a citizen over the age of 65
