No. The Placer County Sheriff's department, civil division, handles this process.

Can I get a restraining order at the Auburn Police Department?

If an extreme emergency exists, usually at night, an officer can call and ask a judge for a temporary restraining order. Normally however, restraining orders are obtained at:

How do I obtain a burn permit?

Burn permits are available Monday – Friday at the Auburn Fire Department office located in City Hall, 1225 Lincoln Way, 2nd Floor, or at the Gietzen Fire Station, 226 Sacramento Street.

When I’ve been solicited by a charity, how can I determine whether or not it is legitimate?

The Attorney General’s office can provide information on charities that are registered. You can call their office Registry of Charitable Trusts Office at 916-445-2021 or visit their website at http://caag.state.ca.us/charities.

What are the current car seat requirements for children?

Children under the age of six (6) or weighing less than 60 lbs. must be secured in an appropriate child passenger restraint system (27360 CVC)

How can I get a copy of a report?

The APD records office is open between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday to process requests for reports. If you were involved in an accident, you may complete a “Request for Information” form to obtain a copy of the report (Note: There is a copy fee of $5.00).

Please contact the records office for procedures to request copies of any other type of report.

Does Auburn PD do fingerprints?

YES. We perform fingerprinting, both LiveScan and cards, on Tuesday mornings, 8:30AM – 10:00am, and on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Please call for appointments (530)823-4237 ext 501. Walk-ins for fingerprinting will be handled in between appointments. The cost for LiveScan is $15.00 roll fee plus any California Department of Justice and FBI fees. (Cash or Checks only, no credit cards). Please bring your completed form with you. A picture ID is required, some of the acceptable IDs are Drivers License, Passport, State ID card.

If your company needs to have a number of fingerprints processed, other days and times can be arranged.

How do I appeal a parking citation?

You must respond to a citation within fifteen (15) days in order to avoid incurring a late penalty. If you believe that the ticket is inappropriate, you may file an appeal with the Auburn Police Department, 1215 Lincoln Way, Auburn 95603 or phone 530-823-4237. Parking tickets may be paid by personal check or money order. Do NOT send cash!
