Construction and Maintenance

The Construction and Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining all of the city's infrastructure facilities except the wastewater treatment and collection system. Funding for these projects is provided from a variety of sources, which include city general fund, gas taxes, Transportation Development Act funds, and other transportation funding sources.

Fleet Services

The City of Auburn has its own fleet services department, maintaining all city vehicles for the Transit Division, Public Works, Fire Department, Police Department, and Wastewater Treatment Plant vehicles.

Landscape Maintenance

The city maintains small pocket parks primarily in the Downtown and Old Town districts of the city. In addition, the Public Works Construction and Maintenance crews perform preventative tree trimming and brush removal along all city maintained streets and property.

  • Repairs within the sidewalk area (public utility boxes etc.)

The city has developed a program to assist property owners in repairing the sidewalk fronting their property. The program pays 50% of the cost to replace or repair the sidewalk. The city will accept Sidewalk Improvement Program grant applications on a first come, first served basis until enough sidewalk is scheduled to be repaired. The City will then bid out the repair work to a private contractor to have completed.

If you are interested in the program, please call City Hall at (530) 823-4211, ext. 192.
