Fees for single-family residential homes are $52.50 per month and $37.29 per month for multiple-tenant facilities. Commercial rates are based on the type of use or uses located on the property.
How often are street signs replaced?
Street signs are replaced on an as needed basis. Public Works personnel are developing a comprehensive inventory of all our signs so that more accurate tracking of signage can be made.
How often are street striping and pavement legends re-painted?
Centerline stripes and pavement legends are repainted each year. The goal is to repaint all areas every year.

How often is my street swept?
Residential streets with curbs and gutters are swept once a month. The main business districts are swept once a week.
Who is responsible for sidewalk repair?
By city ordinance, the property owner is responsible for sidewalk repair and maintenance except when damage is caused by: utility cuts (water, sewer, etc.), handicap ramps, city crew damages (tree service, construction etc.), and repairs within the sidewalk area (public utility boxes etc.).

What is an overlay?
An overlay is the addition of a new layer of asphalt to the street (approximately two to three inches thick). Typically, heavily used streets and severe deterioration are the reasons why a street would be overlaid.
What is a slurry seal?
A slurry seal is a blend of oil and small rocks, which is a preventative maintenance procedure used to increase the life of our streets so they don't require costly repairs.
When do I need to obtain an Encroachment Permit?
An Encroachment Permit is required when anyone is performing work in the city's right of way, city controlled utility easement, or on city owned property.
When do I need a Transportation Permit?
A Transportation Permit is required to operate or move a vehicle or combination of vehicles or special mobile equipment of a size or weight of load exceeding the maximums specified in the California Vehicle Code.
When do I need to obtain a Grading Permit?
A grading permit is required by anyone grading on any site within the City of Auburn over 50 cubic yards of vegetation removal or over 10,000 sq. ft.
When do I need a permit to remove a tree?
A tree permit may be necessary to remove or work around native trees that are 6 inches in diameter or larger. The Community Development Department is responsible for enforcement and review of the tree ordinance.
Can I transfer to another bus service?
Yes, Auburn Transit gives free transfers to Placer County Transit and Gold Country Stage. We also accept transfers from both transit services.
Can I travel to Sacramento on the bus?
You can use Auburn Transit as a feeder service to connect into Placer County Transit buses, which can take you as far as the Light Rail Station on Watt Avenue.

a bus pass is available directly from the bus driver or at City Hall.

What is grasscycling?
Grasscycling is a method used to keep grass clippings out of the wastestream. It is the natural recycling of grass by leaving clippings on the lawn after mowing. A mulching mower allows the clippings to be left on the soil to decompose, returning valuable nutrients back to the soil.

You can save money by reducing the size of your garbage receptacle and using "blue bags" to recycle. You can redeem money by returning glass, plastic, and aluminum products to buy-back centers.
