Mayor Keith Nesbitt has been an Auburn resident since 1990. He served on the Auburn Economic Development Commission (EDC) from 2000 to 2002, and was Chair of the Auburn Planning Commission from 2002 to 2004. Nesbitt was elected to the City Council in 2004, and was immediately reappointed to the EDC, where he presently serves.

Nesbitt is a co-owner of an Auburn mortgage company.
Nesbitt was involved in design, project management and engineering support services for 20 years. Before moving to Auburn, he owned his own consulting company where he worked primarily with consulting structural engineers and engineering contractors. He provided data collection and expert witness services on structural repair litigations and co-sponsored and coordinated test programs involved in earthquake resistant design and construction. He also provided project coordination, construction management and development services to owners, builders, architects and engineers. Nesbitt has spent the last 15 years in real estate sales, commercial real estate, commercial leasing, and financing.
Nesbitt has a degree in Liberal Arts from Santa Rosa Community College and has continuing college education in marketing, industrial marketing and economics, and real estate law, practice, finance, appraisal, brokerage and property management.
Nesbitt and son Dylan live in South Auburn.
