
The City of Auburn is governed by a five-member, elected City Council, which establishes overall policies for the city.
Mayor
Annually, the council selects one of its members to serve as Mayor and another to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore.
The Mayor presides at council meetings, appoints council members to various internal and external committees, attends community events as the council's representative, and performs other ministerial duties. The Mayor Pro Tempore presides in the mayor's absence.

Elections are held in November of even-numbered years,
in which either two or three council members are elected to four-year

policy for the city through the council's rules

City Council Meetings
The City Council meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers to discuss new topics and to consider amendments. Members also attend study sessions on the first, third, and fifth Mondays on an as-needed basis.
