You must purchase a license for any dog over four months of age. Licenses are valid for up to two years, or until the rabies vaccination expires. To obtain or renew a license, you need to present:
- Proof of current rabies vaccination
- Proof of neuter/spay (for reduced fee)
- Payment of license fee
- Mail your proof of vaccination and neutering, with your payment, to:
- City of Auburn

License Fee Exemptions
With verification of current rabies vaccination, owners of the following dogs are exempt from dog license fees:
- Seeing eye dogs owned by a blind or partially blind person
- Any dog certified as a canine companion for independent living and owned by a disabled person
- Dogs used by law enforcement personnel
- Any dog owned by a citizen over the age of 65
