The purpose of the Auburn Airport Business Park Forum held September 24, 2009, was to generate conversations between land owners, business owners, the real estate brokerage community, the City of Auburn and Placer County. Through these conversations, the stakeholders will determine what assistance can help businesses expand and new businesses locate to the Auburn Airport Business Park.
As promised, the planning committee is posting a summary of what was discussed at the Forum and next steps the committee is taking in order to facilitate some of the action items discussed at the Forum:
- First, thank you to all the committee members for your hard work and thank you to the attendees of the Forum. Your participation has made a great impact on what the future holds for the Auburn Airport Business Park.
- The number one topic to come from the meeting was to form an Airport Business Park Association. This is in the process of being facilitated by The Auburn Chamber of Commerce. The initial meeting will be held in late January or early February 2010 and will be posted on the City's Website, and all business owners will be notified by mail.
- The Business Association holds the potential to accomplish several initiatives. A few of these items are:
- * Gateway and Other Signage
- * Encourage More Community and Government Communication
- * Coordination of Airport Land Use Regulations
- * An Industry 2010 Event
- * Marketing Strategies for the Business Park
- * Establish a Foreign Trade Zone
- Another equally important topic is Broadband Access at the Airport. A survey was prepared and conducted in November and the results will be posted on the City's Website. The purpose of the survey is to determine the needs of the business owners at the Airport Business Park and to make a business case for increased Broadband service.
