City Clerk
Welcome to the City Clerk's webpage. The City Clerk’s division is dedicated to providing exceptional public service and connecting citizens to the legislative process.
City Clerk Department is the link between the public, the City Council, and other City departments. The City Clerk is the local official who administers democratic processes such as elections, access to city records, and all legislative actions ensuring transparency to the public. The City Clerk acts as a compliance officer for federal, state, and local statutes including the Political Reform Act, the Brown Act, and the Public Records Act. The City Clerk manages public inquiries and relationships and also arranges for ceremonial and official functions.
The department's functions include:
Video Streaming
Responsible for administering software to live stream the City Council meetings, provide archived videos of the meetings and offer a search function to view past Council actions and all related documents.
City Council Support
Prepares the agendas and minutes of the City Council meetings. To request notification when the City Council agendas are published, click here.
Records Management
Manages the retention and retrieval of official documents ensuring compliance with the Public Records Act and the City' s Record Retention Schedule.
Public Records Requests
Receive and completed Public Records Requests in accordance with the California Public Records Act. Please view this map to first confirm your request is for information inside the city limits. An online form is available to use to submit your request.
Transparency in Government
We believe in the importance of government transparency, as it ensures accountability and fosters trust between leaders and citizens. By promoting openness, we can create a more informed and engaged society that holds its leaders to higher standards.
Fair Political Practices Commission Compliance
Committee & Commission Recruitment
Administers the opening, notification, application and appointment process for Committee and Commission vacancies. Applications for Committees and Commissions can be filled out online here. Youth Representatives applications are available here.
Legislative Process
Maintains the codification of the Auburn Municipal Code.
Procedural
Accepts claims/subpoenas filed against the City. Creates Commendations and Proclamations. The Clerk also plays an active role in posting city news on the City's Facebook page and website.
