Symbium Permits

On September 16, 2022, Senate Bill (SB) 379 was approved by California Governor Gavin Newsom to establish instantaneous plan review practices and create consistent permitting processes at cities and counties for automated permitting of residential solar and energy storage systems.The City of Auburn is proud to announce that it has partnered with Symbium to establish an automated permitting platform that complies with requirements of SB 379.
Contractors and homeowners seeking to pull permits under SB 379 will be able to apply for instantaneous plan review approval via this Symbium portal. You may begin your two step application process below by first verifying the address is within our city limits.

Instructions to Apply for an Instant Solar Permit Through Symbium 

Step one:

Log in to Symbium and fill out application

Submit application and information to Symbium and pay fees

Download Inspection Checklist and Approval Document from Symbium

Step two: 

Log in to Civic Access and fill out application for

  • Permit Type: Online Residential Solar Permit (Symbium)

Upload the following items to Civic Access:

  • Line Drawing
  • Solar and Equipment Layout
  • PV Attachment Layout
  • Racking and Roof Sealant Spec Sheets
  • Equipment Spec Sheets with UL Listing Information
  • Placards
  • Symbium Inspection Checklist
  • Symbium Approval Document

Submit your permit and pay for your application to receive permit

Once the permit is paid, the permit will be issued for Symbium Solar permits only.
