Self-Assessments

Defensible space is the barrier you can create by removing dead trees, plants, grass, and weeds. This barrier can help keep the wildfire away from your home.

Hardening your home involves using construction materials that allow your home to withstand flying embers that find gaps and weak spots in the construction.

It takes a combination of both defensible space and home hardening to give your home the best chance of surviving a wildfire.
